The more pressure we can put on the Board of Trustees and Nancy Cantor, the sooner we can restore Syracuse Athletics to our former glory.

You are unbelievable. Maybe Daryl Gross uses more advertising, maybe he dropped swimming and diving, and maybe some teams have not lived up to their potential in the last couple of years. But maybe you forget to mention that he is in the process of raising a lot of money for the university and is dedicated to enhancing the whole athletics program. Maybe you also forgot to mention some GREAT coaching hires he has made in bringing on Luke Jenson, Gait, and Bradley. Do you really think that it's Daryl's fault that the basketball team didn't make the tournament or that it's his fault the lacrosse team didn't win as many games as they should have? And by the way, he said "hush up" to the crowd because he was trying to grab the students' attention, not because "he hates fans." But maybe you'd rather have another AD that will sit on their hands and watch the athletics department decline and barely raise enough money to pay coaches and cover scholarships. Let's bring back Crouthamel, right?
I don't know when the "glory days" for Syracuse University were. Was that your only basketball national title or losing the other 3 final four appearances. When did your football team ever really compete with the USCs, LSUs, and other top tier teams? Oh, yeah maybe in one or two of the last 50 seasons. As for your lacrosse, nobody west of Indiana cares, plus your coach should be to blame first. Gross has generated revenue, attention, and fanbase outside of central ny. Wins come after investment, not from crying like third graders who didn't get their milk. Gross is change, something central new yorkers are weary of because that means you have to think.
the person who started this blog is the same kind of lowlife that created a blog to get rid of Ron Zook in Florida. You pick one person and label them the failure. Did you ever look in the mirror and consider the fans are less than supportive?
Darryl Gross spearheaded the hiring of Gary Gait at a base salary of $300k, with performance-based bonuses that would put his salary over the $400k mark. No other men's or women's lacrosse coach in the country will make as much as Gary Gait next year. So Gross is drastically overpaying for someone that has very limited experience coaching women's lacrosse. WOMEN'S LACROSSE IS A NON-REVENUE GENERATING SPORT! This fiscal irresponsibility is just one reason why people want Darryl removed.
the only thing I can say is that when you invent a move(air gait) and basically put a sport on a map, it ought to be worth something. Maybe not $300-400K, but both of the Gait's are worth every penny..I am sure he has some skills that will make him a great coach
Michael Jordan was great NBA Player, but you don't see any teams trying to make him the highest paid coach in the league. Success as a player is one thing. Success as a coach is another thing. Making Gait the highest paid coach in all of college lacrosse with no college lacrosse experience is ridiculous. To call this anything but reckless spending is to have no sense of reality.
Even if Gait becomes the greatest women's lacrosse coach in history, how can SU make money on the deal? No one shows up to women's lacrosse games. Is there any revenue to be generated here?

i'd love to know who wrote the 2nd post... and where are you from that is so harvard-scholar brilliant? and who is your team? you're probably like someone from southern california (where i live now, unfortunately) whose outlook on everything is, "yea, yea... i'll get to it. jeez." on the east coast, we want results and we want them now. trust me pal - if you were put in charge of a company and every department beneath you suffered, would you be kept around for 3 years? looks like you didn't think too much yourself
Womens lacrosse actually draws a good crowd as does mens lacrosse. Apples to oranges when you compare sport to bball or football however the largest crowds in comparison to any other school. Regardless bring back Paul!!!! Get gross out and pay Desko what Gary gets. Gait hasnt won a title yet. How many does Gary have at SU.
