Get Gross Out

Dedicated to the removal of Daryl Gross as Athletic Director of Syracuse University. We have experienced enough pain with Syracuse Athletics under his guidance. The time for change is now!

Continuing Mediocrity

I added the records for several other Syracuse programs to the collective "Record Under Gross". Most of our sports struggle with mediocrity under this new administration. I also ranked them in the order of highest winning percentage to lowest. As you can see by the list, without Men's Basketball, Women's Lacrosse and Women's Tennis, we would be sitting at a record of 271-297 (.477).

Many people have mentioned that this isn't just about football and I certainly agree. The problem is that outside of a few select programs, Syracuse Athletics stink. And when the Athletics Department as a whole fails to produce, we have to look at the man who is responsible for the administrative decisions regarding the coaches of all the struggling units. And of course that man is Daryl Gross.

Don't forget Men's Swimming & Diving, which Gross has cut from Syracuse Athletics, with a winning precentage over the last two years of 0.636. And currently is 0.667 for the 2007-2008 season. Making an overall win percentage since Gross arrived of 0.643. Makes you ask what Gross was thinking when he decided to cut Swimming & Diving.

HERE'S WHAT GROSS MIGHT HAVE BEEN THINKING WHEN HE CUT SWIMMING AND DIVING: "HAS SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY HAD GREAT SUCCESS W/ THIS SPORT? DOES ANYBODY BESIDES THE ATHELETES AND/ OR THEIR FAMILIES ATTEND THE MEETS? DOES THIS SPORT BRING IN THE $$$? HOW MUCH IS THE UNIVERSITY SPENDING ON THIS SPORT? WE HAVE TO MEET TITLE IX REQUIREMENTS-WHY NOT BRING A SPORT THAT IS ON THE RISE, WHICH WOMENS HOCKEY IS-EVIDENCE THE OLYMPICS, YOUTH AND D-I PROGRAMS. HOCKEY IS A VERY POPULAR SPORT IN THIS AREA, SWIMMING IS NOT. I'M BRINGING A NEW ERA TO SU, NO MATTER IF THE PUBLIC IS STUCK IN THE PAST, SO LET'S BRING IN SOME NEW IDEAS (IS THIS CONCEPT CLEAR TO NEW YORKERS? "NEW IDEAS"-YOUR STATE USE TO BE CONSIDERED PROGRESSIVE). WE HAVE EXISTING FACILITIES THAT DO NOT NEED IMPROVEMENTS TO HOUSE THIS SPORT." yeah, maybe Gross had these types of thoughts or maybe he didn't and just on a kneejerk reaction decided to cut the watersports. Yeah, yeah that's it...
